Joining#1: Can I join the club?Of course you can. You just need to follow the [
Joining/Submission Rules] correctly before sending your note.
#2: I don't own any rats; can I still join?See #1.
#3: I am a mouse lover, and do not own rats; can I still join?See #1.
#4: I own both rats and mice; can I still join?See #1. Seriously.
#5: I do not want to watch the club; can I still join?NO. Would you really expect us to let you benefit from our almost 200 watchers if you're not even willing to look at the work of others in this club? Every other member in this club will see your work, and possibly comment or favorite your work. You're not willing to give the same in return?
You absolutely may not join if you do not wish to watch the club. It is unfair to the rest of the members.
#6: I do not want to display the icon in my journal for XYZ reason; can I still join?Again, NO. There are few requirements I have of the members of this club, and they are simple. Remember that I do not get paid to run this club for you, I am doing it for free because of my love for rats and because of my desire for a rat-based community on dA that actually stays active. My admins likewise do not get paid for the time they take to assist you with submissions and questions. By advertising our icon, you are bringing more people to the club, which means more people will see your work, refer others, and keep bringing more and more to this club. Basically, by refusing the icon, you are telling us that we are supposed to do all this work on the club to benefit you, and you can't take a few seconds to add that icon into your journal. Don't send us your pity stories or pleas.
There are no exceptions.#7: Can I post the icon in a separate entry with my other club icons?Yes.
#8: I do not have a subscription, so I cannot post the icon. Now this is a flat-out lie and don't think it hasn't been tried on me before. I went a long time without a subscription, and the only restriction you have on icons is the
number of icons you can display in your journal. I do not accept having "~
rat-club" as a link in your journal, it must be the icon. It is how we are recognized. See #6 for further reasons why this icon is important.
#9: Your rules suck. (Don't think I haven't heard it.)
With your attitude, and the fact that you can't even read the reasons behind the rules, I wouldn't want you in the club anyway.
#10: I'll make a deal with you. I offer THIS and THAT for the club, and in return I don't want to follow the rules. (I have absolutely heard this one before! NOT kidding!)
There's a word for this type of note - and that is: DELETED!
Submitting to the Gallery#1: How do I submit work to the gallery?Either send us the URL of the deviation page straight from the field in your browser, or submit your thumbnail code in a note to the club. (This can be found on your deviation page, next to the description.) Please do not send us to the link where the image is loaded from on dA - we will have to go through your gallery to find the deviation page and may have to ask you to submit the link again properly. As a result, posting of your work may be delayed.
#2: Can I submit a work from my scraps to the gallery? No - I'm not sure why it would be in your scraps if you want to show it off so badly.
We do not accept scraps submissions for our gallery. If during one of our "gallery checkups," we find that one of your submissions has been moved to your scraps, it will be deleted from our gallery.
#3: Do you take the credit for the deviation?Absolutely not! Not only do we tag all submissions with our "Do not fav here" line, we also provide links directly to your deviation
and to your page in each description.
#4: Why are comments disabled on all deviations in the gallery?Again, this is so that all comments are directed toward the original artist, not us. This is the benefit of the club - we do the work, you reap the reward!
#5: Is there a limit to how many deviations I can submit?Yes. Currently, there is a limit of two deviations per week. This may or may not change.
#6: When does the week start and end for the club? Our weeks run Sunday-Saturday, so even if you don't submit your weekly deviations until Saturday, you can submit your deviations for the next week first thing the next day. On the other hand, if you submit two deviations on a Sunday, you will have to wait until the next Sunday to submit.
#7: I forgot to submit last week! Can I submit extra deviations this week?Nope, sorry. If you forget to submit your two deviations to the gallery, they're gone.
#8: Do contest submissions count against my 2-per-week limit?Absolutely not. If, for example, a contest has unlimited entries, you could submit your two gallery submissions and fifty contest entries. (Our contests usually have a limit of two, however, and I'm sure our admins are glad for that!)
#9: Do deviations dedicated to the club count against my 2-per-week limit?Again, of course not! If you have made something in dedication to the club, send it our way! It will be posted on the [
Honorable Mentions] page!
#10: What mediums can I submit?Any medium you desire! Photographs are obviously the most popular, but we have other types of art in our gallery. Basically, if you can submit it to deviantART, we can submit it to our gallery.
Affiliates#1: Will you affiliate with our club? Most likely, yes. There are very few clubs I will not associate with - animal haters of any kind, clubs based on the promotion of a negative topic, etc. If your club is anything else, we'll affiliate!
#2: What is involved in affiliation? All we require is that our icon is posted somewhere with the rest of your affiliates, in an easily-found location in your club. You do not have to post them on your front page, but at least have a link on your front page that leads to them. I do not affiliate with clubs whose affiliates are impossible to find, because I have made it easy to find mine.
#3: What are the benefits of affiliation?Simple! You are advertising me and in return, I am advertising you! Some of the best places to find a club are in another club's affiliate list!
#4: Excuse me, but we're supposed to be affiliates and our icon isn't in your journal. An honest mistake. As you can see by the number of affiliates we have, I'm certainly not trying to forget anyone. Just [
note] us that it was forgotten or is missing.
#5: Will you affiliate with my external rat site?Yes, and this applies to rat-based sites only (well, okay, mice too!). Affiliation, of course, does not imply sponsorship by either of us for the other. If you want to trade banners, let me know, and let me browse your site before I agree.
Contests#1: How often are the contests held? They are not at set intervals; they are announced almost immediately.
#2: Do you offer prizes? We try to. We ask members to donate prizes, which usually turns out well. There are always features involved.
#3: What types of prizes are there? This depends on the donator. They can be features, requests, submissions, prints, personalized items, or any other number of things.
#4: How long do you run your contests? Each contest will run for a month, minimum.
#5: What is the voting period?Regardless of contest length, voting is always one week long.
#6: How do we vote?Voting rules are always announced at the beginning of the voting period. They can vary.
#7: How are the winners notified? The front journal is always updated to reflect the winners, and notes are sent individually congratulating them.
#8: I don't agree with John Smith winning the Example Contest.Alright. Nobody ever said you had to.
#9: Can I use [insert devious plot here] to sway the vote for me?NO, NO, NO! You absolutely may not plead for votes, attempt to sway others to vote for you, or bribe anyone for a vote for
any reason! You may not post "Vote for me!" in your descriptions, but you can post something like "I hope I win!"
If anyone EVER attempts to bribe your vote, please send us the evidence. If it is in a note or deviation description, SCREENSHOT it. (Do not forward notes; they are as we all know easy to forge in this way.) If it is in a comment, LINK us to the page with the comment.Information regarding how to screenshot on your computer can be found here:

#10: Thank you for running this contest!Thank you for participating!
Other#1: Are you looking for admins/helpers/etc. for the club?We have a page which lists all of the positions and their availability. It can be found on our [
Rat-Club Positions] page.
#2: Are you looking for admins/helpers/etc. for the chat?We
are always looking for helpers with the chat. If you are interested,
note me.
#3: Who are the current admins/helpers/etc.?Our founder is [~
Sekushi], our club admin is [=
Calypso-Ash].
#4: What are their jobs? Who do I contact for what?No matter what your question is, you should always note the club, not our personal accounts - unless it is something you wish to discuss in private.
[~
Sekushi] (currently unavailable).
[=
Calypso-Ash] currently runs the club, and can answer questions about the club for you.
#5: I would like to help out.Whatever you are interested in doing for us, note us, and we will consider.
#6: Why don't you just use the club to favorite the art? There used to be a rule on dA regarding this, and I have confirmed with `
whoatherechief that the FAQ I remember may have been changed since I last read it. It used to state that a club cannot have members' art in their gallery as well as their favorites (abuse of the favorites system). So if we were to use the club account to mark favorites, then I would have to go through those favorites
each and every time a new member joins to ensure that we are not violating this policy by removing anything we had in the favorites by the new member. (You bet your ass I'm not about to get this club banned for ANY reason.) As many things in this club already take up a majority of my life (that is not a complaint), I am also not going to make it any harder for myself to maintain it. So this separate account will favorite rat art all over dA from all types of mediums.
#7: But why would you do that if you have a club dedicated to this already? Not everyone wants to be in the club. That is fine. But some of those works are works I would absolutely love to feature - and I can't because I do not have the owners' permissions to feature them. We can only put in the gallery what we are explicitly told to put there - anything else that is put in is considered stolen. We are not art thieves. (There are, however, no rules that I have found against accounts that only use their favorites.)
Have a Question We Missed?Note us - we'll be glad to put the answer up here for you, and anyone else in the future!
